FLIGHT REVIEW

§ 61.56 Flight review  Says a flight review must consist of a minimum of 1 hour of flight training and one hour of ground training, review of general operating and flight rules of part 91, and A review of those maneuvers and procedures that, at the discretion of the person giving the review, are necessary for the pilot to demonstrate the safe exercise of the privileges of the pilot certificate.

Step 1 Preparation

  2. Complete ALC-25 Flight Review Preparation Guide at www.faasafety.gov

  3. Print copy of completion certificate to bring to flight review

  4. Plan a VFR cross-country flight to another airport more than 50 nm using flight log

  5. Recieve a Standard Weather Briefing for day of flight Review

 

Step 2 Ground Review 

  1. Review and discuss cross-country flight plan

  2. Discuss TFR's, aircraft and airport security

  3. Review results of Flight Review Preparation Course and discuss questions answered incorrectly.

 

Step 3 Flight Activities

  1. Depart on cross-country trip as assigned and discussed in ground review

  2. Diversion Scenario to another airport

  3. Perform flight manuevers, slow fight, steep turn, stalls,

  4. Perform short field and soft field takeoff and landings

  5. Instrument flight (hood time)

 

Step 4 Post Flight Debriefing

Pilot reviews flight with instructor

  Reflect:

  1. What did you learn

  2. What was hardest, easiest

  3. What was uncomfortabe, when

  4. How would you asses you performance

  5. Were you within practical test standards
